The Story Changes - This Is Your Moment EP
Album Review
The Story Changes keeps doing what they are good at: playing good music. This two man band sound so much bigger than what they seem. McMillon’s vocals are poignant, classic punk, perfectly in synch with the lyrics. This time The Story is pushing the boundaries, they are taking it further, their sound is more defined. The guitar has a ‘push-and-pull’ sound (“Worlds Collide”). Together with the beats Poppy lays out, each song drives your feet off of the ground. The opening track “Tidal Wave” creeps up onto you, slowly making its way into your chest, sparking something inside, starting the mood for the record. “How Long” sounds like a song from the underground punk scene of the late 90s, while “Breed” is a combination of Nirvana’s “Polly” and a much faster Promise Ring. This Is Your Moment is the first vinyl release for The Story Changes, the choice could not have been better. This record doesn’t even feel like an EP, once you’re done listening, you will go back and give it another listen, over and over again.
